Lense, right on the article
The Lense browser extension shows reader ratings and passage-by-passage discussion on the news article you are already reading, and lets you highlight a sentence to start a sourced thread.
Install
Store listings are on their way. Until then, everything is available on the web.
What it does
Ratings on the page
See how readers rate the article's lean and reliability, and add your own, from a panel beside the story.
Highlight to comment
Select a sentence and choose “Comment on this”. Passages with discussion are highlighted, with a count.
Threads with sources
Reply, vote, sort, attach images and cite sources marked as supporting, disputing or adding context.
Your weekly star
Star the article you think is most worth reading this week without leaving the page.
Stays out of private pages
It never runs on banking, email and similar sensitive sites, and asks Lense about a page only by an anonymous fingerprint of its address.
Your Lense account
Sign in once with your Lense account; everything you rate or write shows up on the web and in the app too.
Extension questions
Which browsers will the Lense extension support?
Chrome, Edge and Firefox first, with Safari later. Store listings are coming soon; this page will link to them as soon as they are published.
Does the extension read the articles I visit?
It looks for the passages readers have discussed so it can highlight them, and sends Lense only a one-way fingerprint of the page address to ask for ratings. It never sends the article's text, and it doesn't run on sensitive sites such as banking or email.
Do I need an account?
Anyone can see ratings and discussion. Rating, starring and commenting need a Lense account, which is invite-only for now.
